DME AND INSURANCE INFORMATION

Understand your Omnipod 5 insurance route

Omnipod 5 access is not automatically a DME benefit. Confirm the pharmacy route and exact Pod variant before arranging a prescription transfer.

General information, not medical advice or an insurance coverage decision. MedraxDME operates as an out of network supplier. Coverage, supplier enrollment requirements and patient responsibility depend on the plan and an individual review.

Start with the pharmacy benefit

Insulet describes Omnipod access for Medicare beneficiaries through Part D prescription drug coverage, subject to the plan. Do not assume that a medical equipment supplier can bill an Omnipod request because it handles other diabetes products. Check Insulet’s Medicare access information and ask your plan which pharmacy or dispensing channel to use.

MedraxDME’s product catalog can help identify an item, but a listing is not evidence that we are an authorized dispensing pharmacy, enrolled with your program or contracted for your particular benefit. Where a pharmacy channel is required, the plan and prescribing office should coordinate that route.

Check the exact Pod and compatible sensor

Our catalog includes an Omnipod 5 G6-G7 Intro Kit and G6-G7 Pods. Compatibility depends on the specific Pod version, sensor, controller or compatible smartphone, and current software. A broad statement that Omnipod 5 integrates with a sensor does not establish that every older Pod package supports it.

Use Insulet’s current sensor integration information and the package instructions to check the precise combination. Your diabetes clinician should confirm the prescription and training arrangements. This website does not recommend pump settings, insulin doses or unsupervised changes.

Prepare for the access conversation

Ask the plan whether the introductory equipment and ongoing Pods have separate authorization requirements, which pharmacy can fill them, and whether a preferred product or exception process applies. Ask your clinical team who will provide setup education and whom to call for an interruption.

If you are transferring an existing prescription, check current supplies and pending refills before canceling an arrangement. Keep manufacturer support and an agreed backup treatment plan accessible. Do not stop therapy or change equipment solely because a web form has been submitted.

Start with a insurance review

  1. Request a callback. Give your name, phone number and email. You can also choose a preferred contact time. Do not enter your diagnosis, insurance number or prescription in this form.
  2. Confirm the appropriate supplier route. Ask the team and your insurer whether the requested equipment can be supplied under your plan. A pharmacy benefit, contracted supplier or other dispensing route may be required.
  3. Arrange the documentation securely. Once the recipient and next steps are confirmed, your clinician can use our referral fax at (480) 372-3067. Do not send records to ordinary email.
  4. Review the result before proceeding. Confirm the exact equipment, any authorization, patient responsibility and fulfillment arrangements. A callback or prescription alone is not an approved order.

MedraxDME provides equipment through insurance billing and operates as an out of network supplier. An equipment listing does not establish plan participation. We do not guarantee approval or a particular patient cost.

Questions and answers

Does an Omnipod listing mean MedraxDME can bill my pharmacy benefit?

No. Dispensing eligibility and the plan’s required channel must be confirmed. The catalog is not a pharmacy enrollment or coverage statement.

Are all Omnipod 5 Pods compatible with every integrated sensor?

No. Confirm the exact Pod variant, sensor and controller or smartphone combination with current Insulet guidance.
