General information, not medical advice or an insurance coverage decision. MedraxDME operates as an out of network supplier. Coverage, supplier enrollment requirements and patient responsibility depend on the plan and an individual review.
CPAP equipment and related supplies
The CMS: October 2026 HCPCS release and quarterly updates identifies E0601 for a CPAP device. CMS explains that this includes a device providing one pressure level within a respiratory cycle and includes auto adjusting CPAP devices within this category. Bilevel respiratory devices have separate classifications. CMS: Positive Airway Pressure policy article A52467.
Those distinctions do not tell a patient which treatment to choose. A qualified clinician must diagnose the condition, prescribe the system and determine settings. Do not change settings or substitute a machine based on a code comparison. A product name containing PAP is not enough to establish equivalence.
Coverage and continued use are separate checks
For Medicare treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, the CMS: Positive Airway Pressure coverage policy L33718 includes an evaluation, qualifying sleep test and criteria for continued coverage. A machine prescription alone is not the entire record. The applicable plan may also have its own authorization and supplier arrangements.
Ask the care team and supplier what follow up is needed, who reviews use information and how to address difficulty using the prescribed equipment. Reporting a mask fit or comfort problem promptly is more helpful than waiting until a documentation deadline. This page does not interpret an individual's sleep test or adherence record.
A mask listing does not mean a machine is included
MedraxDME's respiratory catalog includes accessories and other respiratory products. The presence of a CPAP mask, tubing or filter does not establish that a CPAP machine is included or currently supplied. Check each listing's actual contents.
For an existing system, keep the machine model and prescribed interface details available when discussing replacements. Ask whether the component matches that system and whether your plan requires a separate request. Do not infer a universal replacement schedule from this equipment code.
Read the written order guide for documentation basics. The public callback form should contain contact details and optional equipment selections, not sleep study reports, clinical downloads or insurance identifiers.
